icon Powder Metallurgy HSS

Our principals in Europe, with their expertise in the field of manufacturing and utilization of Special Steels with an aim to fulfill customer demands, have developed a new generation of High speed steel manufactured through powder metallurgy route.

This process involves fusion in an induction furnace followed by refining under vacuam. The liquid metal after reaching the desired chemical composoition is injected in an automisation chamber and dispersed into submicroscopic drops by powerful jets of nitrogen. Thus the instant  solidification in nitrogen atmosphere creates powder in small particale size to the order of few hundred microns. This powder after sifting and mixing is subjected to uniform degree of isostatic compaction under heat. The pressure and temperature are increased simultaneously to 1150 degrees and 1000 atmospheres for it to attain the desired properties of high speed steel.

These grades have remarkable and proven improvements in Hardness, Wear resistance, Hot Hardness, Machinability as compared to conventional production route used for High Speed tool Steel and Cold work tool steel.

Steel properties
TSP 23 is a high steel, produced by powder metallurgy. It has a very good resistance combined with a high toughness. Its manufacturing process by powder metallurgy enables a high dimensional stability after heat treatment. TSP 23 is an excellent substrate for CVD and PVD coatings. All nitriding processes can be used.
Applications
TSP 23 is specifically employed for cold working tools, blanking tools, deep drawing tools and fine blanking tools. It can be used universally for punches as well as dies.

TSP 23 is also often encountered in many cutting tools applications (hobs, broaches, sharper cutters)

Steel properties
TSP 4 is a high steel, produced by powder metallurgy standing out from the current cold work grades by its high vanadium content. It has an excellent toughness, combined with a much higher wear resistance than that of other M 3/2 type steels. Its manufacturing process by powder metallurgy enables a high dimensional stability after heat treatment.
Applications
TSP 4 is specifically employed for cold working tools, blanking tools, deep drawing tools and fine blanking tools. It can be used universally for punches as well as dies.

TSP 4 is also often encountered in many cutting tools applications (hobs, broaches, sharper cutters)

Steel properties
TSP 30 is a high-carbon tungsten / molybdenum / cobalt high-speed steel produced by powder metallurgy with a very high resistance and a superior toughness. It has a good grindability. Its manufacturing process by powder metallurgy enables a high dimensional stability after heat treatment.
Applications
TSP 30 is also often encountered in many cutting tools applications (hobs, broaches, sharper cutters, special minig cutters, reamers, taps, helical twist drills, thread rolls, shearing tools etc.)

TSP 30 is also often encountered in cold work applications for producing dies and punches.

Steel properties
TSP 5 is a high-carbon tungsten / molybdenum / cobalt high-speed steel produced by powder metallurgy with a very high resistance and an excellent toughness. Hardness values obtained are higher than those for conventional high-carbon high-speed steel owing to the chemical composition and the type of generated carbide.

Its manufacturing process by powder metallurgy enables a high dimensional stability after heat treatment.
Applications
TSP 5 is also often encountered in many cutting tools for machining hard and abrasive materials. Its is often encountered in the manufacture of tools such as broaches and hobs.

TSP 5 can also be found in cold work applications requiring high resistance to wear and compression : dies, punches, flow forming rollers, etc.
